Objectives:
The course introduces the topics of designing and managing services with autonomic properties. The goal of the course is to provide a basic introduction to autonomic services and architectures, to discuss their role in Virtual Organizations and e-science applications, and to present in detail self-managing and autonomic optimization techniques.
Program
The program of the course and instructors are as follows:
1* Introduction: Autonomic services research issues. Architecture of Autonomic service centers (Pernici)
2* Run time support of autonomic services: QoS negotiation and optimization, adaptive Web services, approaches to self-healing processes (Pernici)
3* Web Service retrieval (Plebani)
4* Design of autonomic services; reliable services (Cappiello)
5* Green IT: the GAMES approach to energy efficiency in data centers based on adaptive services (Pernici)
