Context-Aware Data Design and Management
Context-awareness is becoming more and more important in making the experience of the individual in
each one of her/his daily activities more personalized and focused. It is not only a matter of
providing a the individual with the information, the things s/he likes more, but also the pursuit
of discarding the huge amount of "noise" s/he is not interested in.
When considering data, current technology provides us with a lot of information, more than we are
usually able to manage or effectively use. Furthermore, this data may come from different independent sources,
not centrally organized to answer our requests.
Thus, our research aims at designing a methodology and framework for supporting data, system and application architects at design time to define a context-aware use and management of information, to provide users with all and only data they are interested in, according to their current context and preferences.
More precisely, Context-ADDICT (from Context-Aware, Data Design, Integration, Customization and Tailoiring) is the challenging project gathering the numerous several research issues currently under investigation. A detailed description of the project and its aims is available at the related web site: http://poseidon.elet.polimi.it/ca/.
A brief overview of a portion of the Context-ADDICT methodology and a framework currently under development is available here.
