Research Interests and Scientific Activity

Mariagrazia Fugini research interests are in Security and in Information Systems.
She is co-author of the volumes "Database Security", Addison Wesley, 1995 and of "Sicurezza dei Sistemi Informatici", Apogeo 2001, "Sistemi Informativi Basati su web", F.Angeli 2006, "Impianti Informatici", McGraw-Hill", 2007 and of various publications in information system design and management, data security, service-based applications, business process management and risk management in work environments.
She leads and cooperates to various National and International Research Projects (EU Projects: TODOS, ITHACA, F3, WS-Diamond, SEEMP, and currently GAMES on Green Service Centers and TOISE on cryptography in power grids).
She has participated in projects for Information Systems re-engineering for Public Administrations and worked on Borsa Lavoro Lombardia (Regional portal for employment services). She cooperates to education and design teams with Public and Private organizations. She has active cooperations with Universita Politecnica de Catalunya (Barcelona).

1. Information Systems Security.

- systems for access control to data;
- acquisition and specification of security policies and requirements;
- design methods for security of networked data and applications;
- security in advanced systems: web-based information systems, cloud computing, workflows, e-commerce, e-services, power grids.

Ph. D. Thesis on security management in Unix (alos in cooperation with University of Maryland, College Park).
Coooperation with rsearch teams and companies. Currently involved in TOISE Eniac project on Security of Power Grids (started Jan. 2011).

Development of cooperative platforms for management of large scientific experiments in physics, engineering, medicine. Secure access control to different resources, trust and reputation management. Distributed business processes management, security of cloud-based services for scientific experiments. Cooperation with Frederick University Nicosia, Cyprus and Università di Cagliari.

4. Risk mitigation techniques in work environments

Development of software platforms for risk management out of data from mobile sensors. Risk mitigation strategies, analysis of business convenience of ensuring assets. Techniques for personal protection. Development of prototypes for risk analysis (with probabilstic techniques) and emergency management (with deterministic techniques). Cooperation with Frederick University Nicosia, Cyprus and Università Milano Bicocca.
