1966. He received the 'Laurea' degree cum laude in Electronic Engineering
and the Doctorate degree in Computer Science and Automation in 1991 and 1995,
respectively, both from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. From Spring to Fall 1995 he was a visiting scholar
at the School of Mechanical Engineering of Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA,
working with Prof. Wayne J. Book on flexible manipulators control. Current position Since 1996 Dr. Rocco has been with the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione of Politecnico di Milano, where he
is currently Full Professor in Systems and Control. He teaches Automatic
Control to Mechanical and Aerospace engineering students and Control of
Industrial Robots to Automation engineering students. He has served as co-chair in a Master Program on
Design of Mechatronic Systems at Politecnico di Milano. At
present he serves as Secretary of the BSc and MSc Programs on Automation Engineering. Dr. Rocco is one of the officers of SIDRA, the national
society of Italian Professors in Automatic Control. Editorial duties Dr. Rocco has served as an Associate Editor for the
IEEE Transactions on Robotics from 2004 to 2008. He has also served in the
International Program Committee of the IEEE/ASME Conference on Advanced
Intelligent Mechatronics for several editions as
well as in other international conferences (including RSS 2008). He has been
co-editor of a special issue on Mechatronics of the
IFAC journal "Annual reviews in control". Paolo Rocco is currently a member of the Conference
Editorial Board (CEB) of the Robotics and Automation Society of the IEEE,
serving for several editions of ICRA and IROS. He is also a member of the EURON Education and
