Simone Garatti is currently an
Assistant Professor in the Automatic Control area (SSD ING-INF/04) at the
Dipartimento di Elettronica ed Informazione of the Politecnico di Milano. He was born in Brescia, Italy, in 1976. In
2000, he received the Laurea degree cum laude in Computer Science Engineering
from the Politecnico di Milano and in 2004 he received the Ph.D. cum laude in
Information Technology Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano. In 2004, he
was a research fellow at the Dipartimento di Elettronica ed Informazione of the
Politecnico di Milano. He has been assistant professor within the same
department since 2005. During his career, Simone Garatti has been visiting
scholar at some prestigious foreign universities. Precisely, in 2003 he visited
the Lund University of Technology, Lund, Sweden, while in 2006 he won a
fellowship for the short-term mobility of researchers from the National
Research Council of Italy (CNR) and he spent some months at the University of
California San Diego (UCSD), San Diego, CA, USA. Finally, in 2007 he was
invited for a short-term visit at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and the Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA,
during which he gave some invited lectures on his research topics. His research interests include system identification
and model quality assessment, identification of interval predictor models,
randomized optimization for problems in systems and control. He is the
co-author of more than 20 contributions on international journals,
international books, and proceedings of international conferences.
